Chaos by Design 101

Have you ever had an innovative idea, but didn’t know where to go with it? A type of writers block if you will? So many of us have been there: on the brink of a brilliant moment. If you leave it at that, then that is all you get, a moment. We’re here to ensure that your moment, your vision, isn’t only a blip. Chaos by Design wants to extend that moment - let’s bring your brilliance to light in a lasting way. In order to do that, first we need to talk verbiage. You can’t fully comprehend what we can do for you until we get this little vocab lesson out of the way, so stay with us!


A friend of mine recently mentioned her desire to start a blog. Being in the business, my interest was naturally piqued, so I inquired deeper, starting with questions about her target audience. Well, she didn’t have one. This is a common mistake in both blogging and brand building alike - if you don’t have a specific niche that you are aiming your marketing campaign and blog posts towards, you may as well just keep those logo designs and brand strategies in your notebook, because you’re missing the mark! You need to determine who you’re trying to reach, and it’s integral that you get specific. Once you know whose attention you’re seeking, only then can you determine how to reach them!


According to Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, “Your brand is what other people say about you when you’re not in the room.” It’s the customer’s perception of your business, so it’s important to build your brand appropriately so that your clientele are saying things you would want to overhear!


Brand building is generating awareness about your business with the desired result of creating a unique and lasting presence in the marketplace. This on-going process can take some time, and really you’re never “done” building your brand. How do you do this? The answer is strategy, identity, and marketing! Read on...


A step often overlooked, and definitely underrated! Creating a Brand Strategy maps out what sets you apart from the competition, and why your customers should love your business. Once you’ve created the blueprint of what makes you special, you’re ready to decide how to present your identity.


Brand Identity is how you show the world that you rock using visuals, messaging, and experience. Consistency is key, as this will become the way that your business is recognizable. Imagine if every Starbucks had a different logo, slogan, and color scheme - You would start to question if you were even in a Starbucks at all! The same is true for your brand identity, so select that logo, color/font scheme, website design, content, advertising, etc with care!


Once you have the product/service, you need to get the word out, and make sure that it is reaching that specific niche we talked about earlier.

Most brand marketing can be done digitally through your website, social media, email marketing, and/or paid advertising. Some combination of these channels is essential to gaining brand awareness and growth.


Brand voice is how you communicate with your customers, and get them to engage with you. There are so many styles - professional, conversational, authoritative and so on - so you must choose the voice that resonates with your target audience. If you do this successfully, you will create a lasting connection between your business and the customers.
